Two months old -oh and some one month stuff too-and also some brownies

We have been busy this month. Asher is sleeping through the night- bless him. Aidan and Asher are also taking naps at the same time! (I don't know how I got so luck. )
Last month I took some "One month Pics" and I am just getting around to posting them. Just for comparison I have one of Aidan's One month pics too. Can you guess which one is which?

I didn't mean to have them in the same outfit. (I am not that organized. I guess i just like stripes.)

Aidan decided he wanted to make Brownies last month. So he made them. Little Smarty pants read the directions on the box. (The pictures) and assembled the supplies and ingredients. One of the eggs ended up on the table before it made it into the bowl- we ate the brownies anyway. I think Aidan only likes baking because of the mess.

Asher is two months old now. His well baby check is tomorrow. He smiles a little. Mostly at his Brutus Mobile. His favorite thing in the world is Aidan. (and eating) And he's wearing the same outfit. I swear he has other clothes. I need to start planing his "photo shoot outfits" (Sure like that will happen)

We had such a nice morning today. (Then it started raining) Aidan just had to go outside. I took some pictures of the sunniness- so I can remember what it's like later.

Aidan wanted to try out his new winter coat. The hat is his "zoo keeper" hat. Asher room was transformed into a zoo this morning. The moose is sharing a cage/crib with two bears. (Aidan assures me that they are all friends) Also the cow and chameleon seem to have set up housekeeping in the laundry basket. He was outside looking for new animals for his zoo.

After Aidan was playing in his room for awhile (during nap time mind you) I went in to remind him of the task at hand.
"Mommy, I don't like naps" he told me. I agreed that naps are not fun, but a necessary part of life. "You need to try to take a nap."
"Mommy, I trying hard, but all my hard is gone." (How do you keep a straight face and still parent?)

21 months... and counting

Despite having a cold this week, Aidan is his usually happy, busy self. He is throwing new words into his vocabulary everyday. He wowed us the other day asking for dad's "Keeys". Now he has his own lanyard with a key that he wears when he eats. (I have no idea why you need keys to eat.. but apparently you do.)
His repetor of animal sounds is growing as well. I can't wait for it to be warm enough to go to the zoo and look at all the animals he knows. He clicks like a dolphin, moos like a cow, and stomps like an elephant.
He also has discovered puppets. He says., "Boy," to get me to hand him his Pinocchio and Raggedy Andy puppet. "No" has also made an appearance- but he only says it in response to a question.

Ben asks "How did we get this kid"
His little nose is all sore and runny but he brings us a Kleenex and asks us "Nose?" so we will wipe it for him. (Yes, I am bragging)

reading is still a favorite activity. AND we have reading rules (all his)
1. I am not allowed to read "Hand Hand Fingers Thumb" (Only Dad can)
2. In order to read Dr. Seuss' ABC's Aidan must have:
a. His Alligator (Aunt Annie's Alligator A...a...A
b. His Rhinoceros (Rosy's riding on her red rhinoceros)
3. the cat must only sit on Mom's right leg. The left leg is Aidan's
4. the command, "Ree" must always be accommodated.

We have been taking lots of pictures lately. He likes to look at the lcd after we take them. He trys to look through the view finder too. Uncle Chris, there's a picture just for you, Can you find it??

20 months? Where'd the time go?

I can't believe that Aidan is 20 months old today. Just four months until he is 2!

He is such a big boy. Mr. Smarty pants does something new every day. Today he picked up his Hippo and said, "Bobo" I had no idea he even knew he was holding a hippo. He got the Fisher price zoo for Christmas and we have been having a blast playing with all the animals. He can match the animal to the picture on the mat.

We started our new session of swim class today after a 3 week break. Aidan loves the water- he has started blowing bubbles and spends most of his time on his tummy in the water.

18 months pics

Okay, so we are a little late. It's been snowing and I am mourning the passing of fall and the arrival of 6 months of winter. (that's right 6, now through may) I took a bunch of pictures on what turned out to be the last good day of fall. The where supposed to be cute leaf pictures... but he wouldn't get out of his 'happy jeep' long enough.
Aidan is more and more a little dude. Besides head butting things he loved to read books. His fav. is "Head to Toe" by Eric Carle. Dad taught him the motions that go with each animal. It's very funny.
He is learning and using more signs every day. I was ambivalent about baby signing and now I'm a fan. After one afternoon of screaming while I tried to figure out he wanted an apple I taught him apple, eat, and cheese. We are much much better now- he finds other things to be frustrated about.
Story hour and Swim are also still big hits. (Mommy loves to talk to big people) We have favorite friends both places.

18 months

Aidan had his doctor check up today. He is a happy healthy dude plus a flu shot. He didn't even cry. He was more offended that nurse Tina stuck a band aid on his leg. He pulled it off right away and gave it back.
We visited the family this week and had a visit from Meghan, Geoff, and Cecily. What a cutie she is....

Aidan the 17th Month old

What fun we are having these days. Aidan says more things everyday. Sometimes I have to think about what he is trying to say, and often I have to translate for everyone else. Aidan now says: Juice (Joo), Cat, Dog, Mama, Dada, GO! (alway imperitive), Car, Truck, On, bird, and Goat. He tries to say llamma, but mostly just gives up and says dog.

He can now follow simple directions like "bring me your socks" or "find mommy's cell phone/ keys or we can't go in the car" he is so proud when he completes a task. He hepled me put all his laundery inthe dirty cloths basket (after he dumped it).

Among his new tricks are hugs and kisses. He has to be really cuddly thought, this boy doesn't hand out free lovin'. Mao is still a fan. Aidan body surfs him and Mao purrrs. When we come home from being away they run to eachother like it's been years. Aidan loves to give Mao kisses.... Mao loves to knock Aidan over and love on him.

"we" have been teething all month. Aidan is cutting his molars. Much fun... Today I noticed he is also getting his bottom bilateral inscisors. He likes bitting things now and chews his fingers so much I am suprised he still has them.... We can't wait to see what happens next.
Aidan last year....

Lake George

We went to Lake George for a Labor Day picnic and fun fest. On the way there we stopped at Football practice. While Ben did his thing we went to the awesome playground. It's so worth the drive. Aidan loves the slides and "driver" (Steering wheel) He is especially in love with the water park. They call it a "Spray ground" he had a blast. He's been there before but what a difference a couple months made. He is so much more into water this month. He ran around to all the fountains and splashed them all.
After a short nap it was on to more fun. Aidan gave his first kiss away.. and not to me. He kissed Madeleine. So cute! He loved her hair and all the fun noises she made. The boat was also fun. We had a great time visiting everyone. Aidan and I even got our hair cut. (Thanks Beth)

Right before we left Aidan and Uncle Ben played an awesome duet on the piano. I took some pictures. I think they are super cute. Then today I realized they are the only pictures I took. Oh well.

Aidan has grown so much over the last month. He can climb on everything-- including his window sill (not sure what I am going to do about that) He loves stairs, doors, trucks, balls, and of course his cats. He also tells the dogs to "down". He tries to say more words every day. Today we are working on Llama- His September picture on his calender. he says "la la...dog"
New this month-- screaming when he gets excited and mad. The happy screams are cute.... the others... not so much. I can't wait until he can tell me what he wants/ needs.

Life with a 14 monther

Aidan is so much fun these days. ( I say that alot) He says Dada, Cat, and Dog. He tries to say light, and this. And he points- alot. He brings me things; books, toys, rocks. Rides in his wagon are a favorite. We have been to the zoo and hiking in these last few weeks. The zoo was fun cause he could see some of the animals.
July 4th was a blast. He loved playing with the bean bags and ultimate golf balls. Madeline was pretty cool too. Aidan is a climber- the gate, the crib, the cats.
His new thing is snuggling. He loves to curl up next to us on the floor.

We have had a busy few weeks. Trips to Pymatuning, Lake George, and our last swim class of the year. Aidan has also been learning new tricks. He covers his mouth when he laughs (*no idea* who taugh him that) and he climbs onto the coffee table, and recliner. He love to dance on the table. Very silly boy. We have had fun outside chasing Dad while he mows we even saw a bird!

My 11 month old

Ben and I can't believe how fast 11 months has gone. Aidan is doing such cool things these days. He points! At everything. His favorites are lights, people, and buttons. We now spend lots of time in front of vending machines, elevators, and electronic equipment.

He tackles the cats and even says CAT! He's walking (a little) and runs if you hold his hands. Swim class is still a hit. He kicks and splashes and laughs. Today he climbed onto the little tykes slide in gym class. (look out mommy)

It has been so nice out we played for a long time yesterday. Today "we" played basketball. Mostly I threw the ball at the hoop. (notice I say nothing about making the shot...) and Aidan laughed and laughed. I guess I was funny. He has grown so much this month I can't wait to see how big he is next month.

We got Aidan a new cup a few days ago. He figured out how to drink from it so fast. He was having troulbe with hisold one. Now he's a pro. Aidan has been fuusy this week--- cause he's been cutting his two top front teeth! Yippee now we can see them and he's feeling better-- and sleeping better.

He got a new handmade sweater this weekend and can't wait to grow into it! Thanks Caroline. He has a new swing gate which Mom and Dad love.

Tuesday he had his first Gym and Swim class at the YMCA. He loved it. He is the younget in his class...appearently only moms of two year old boys sign up for these things. (there were 2 girls-- so I should generalize...) Aidan loves the water and splashed and kicked. He can now climb out of the pool "by himself" we think we just taught him how to get out of the tub...

Happy four weeks old to Cecely this friday!

Thursday, February 7, 2008

I am feeling much better today. That cold was not fun! Aidan had a little case of the sniffles over the weekend- Mommy of course got the yucky sinus infection.
We went to the doctor's today. Aidan is doing well. No shots this time.
After the doctor we stoped by the Pet shop (It's much closer than the zoo) and Aidan said "Hi" to all the puppies. They had a westie puppy who looked just like Molly did. (and probalby was sick too) Aidan really liked the fish. We keep talking about getting a fish tank...maybe next year. (Like I really need another animal in my house. The whole reason we were at the pet store was to buy crickets for the lizard--yes we have a lizard....)

Aidan has been a joy this month. He has gotten over the frustersation of not being able to get around. Now he can crawl and stand up. He even "walks" behind his tonka truck. He has been all smiles and giggles. He continues to feed himself anything I give him. He is eating protein in the form of chicken, fish, and tofu. Ben says he can't figure out where Aidan got his taste for meat... :)

Aidan's love affair with the cats continues. He had me in stiches today as he chased after and caught the cats. Mao, I think has resigned himself to the attention. He purrs as Aidan tugs on his fur. Aidan also loves to climb. He gets onto the dishwasher and today climbed onto his walker.

A big Happy Birthday to Ceceliy Rose Bennedict. Meghan and Geoff greeted thier bundle of girl (suprise) on Friday the 1st. She is 7 lbs. 1 oz. and 19 1/2 inches long. Mom and Baby are doing fine. I can't wait to see them. It's such a long drive from here to Pittsburg though.

I have started to search for fridge magnets for the Bug. He loves to eat the ones I have now. I am looking for letters, or animals-- something baby friendly. Walmart, Target, and T"r" Us don't have any. Does anyone have any ideas?

Zoo trip

We went to the Zoo yesterday and had a blast. It was warm. (53 degrees) Aidan had so much fun looking at all the other kids. There were babies his age and toddlers everywhere. We learned that all grownup legs look the same from the knee down. I had more little ones grab me and say "Mommy".... Maybe I now have that "Mom" look. Can your knees exude "momminess"?? Aidan also noticed the monkeys, big fish, Elephants, and Lemurs. Grammie and Grandpa Clutter came with us and Aidan played peek-a-boo.

He is doing so many new things. Cheerios are a hit. We are going to try more finger foods as he seems to really want to feed himself. More updates on that.
This month he has also started clapping his hands when he's happy, and splashing in the tub. He has found the cat's water dish and will splash that if I let him. Ben has also given Aidan his own remote --out of self defence. (How do they know the difference?)

Christmas Pictures

On Tuesday we went to Sears and got Christmas pictures taken. Grammie Janice got him his cute outfit. The picture lady said he was soo good and easy. (maybe she says that to everyone- but I like to think Aidan is perfect) He had so much fun smiling on cue.
This week he has started expressing his frustration by growling. It's so cute--and funny. He doesn't like it when I laugh. He is finally sleeping through the night again. We are not sure why he stopped for awhile. But I am thrilled! Kittie chasing is his favorite thing-ever. Poor cats. Ben says Aidan has found the stairs- and can crawl up them... sigh. Gate 'r us.

6 months (plus)

Ok so it's been awhile. We have been so busy learning new things that I haven't posted. This month we have been busy every weekend. Chris came to visit (for my birthday) and so did Grammie! We went to Dresden and the doctors.

Aidan had his 6th month shots and a flu shot on the 8th. He did great. Uncle Chris was there to love on him after too. He is now 28 inches long. He wears 9 month cloths because of the length-- but his 6 month cloths are still loose.

Aidan's favorite new trick? Crawling!!! He chases the cats and his toys all over the floor. He can move purposefully in his walker now too. My dish towels are always on the floor nowadays. We can't wait to have the whole family over for Thanksgiving. Aidan is looking forward to showing off his self feeding skills! He loves is teething crackers.

We are still waiting for that first tooth to appear. He drools and chews on everything. His little chin is all chapped from biting it. Favorite chew toy? The cats. Mao and Sophie will lay on the floor while he "pets" and bites them. Moishe...well we don't see allot of him when Aidan is on the floor. He loves Aidan on our laps, he purrs and purrs. But crawling Aidan -not so much.

We have continued introducing new foods. Aidan loves his green beans, squash, and pears. There is an orchard around the corner and we have been buying fruit to bake and freeze. He eats alot these days. 3 meals a day. Sometimes I'm afraid I over feed him-- but since he's in the 38th % for weight I probably shouldn't.

Cinco de Aidan

Five months of Aidan and Pancho's-- what could be better? We had a great day today. Grammy came home from New York and we got to see her. Tomorrow is Homecomming at Malone so we will have fun there.
Aidan is doing so many new things. He sits up by himself, reaches for his blocks, and can get on all four's from his tummy. His new chew toy is Mao. Mao is a very patient kitty. These days he has drool all over his fur from love bites. We call Aidan "Mr. Grabby Paws" now-- nothing is safe.

Guess who's 4 months old?

Aidan is four months old tomorrow. Where does the time go?! Everyday he is doing new things.

He had his second round of shots on Thursday and was a little fussy all weekend. He didn't cry much at the doctor's and even smiled at the nurse after she was done poking him, however, he made up for it later. Monday and today he has been quite unhappy, drooling and chewing on everything. We think he might be teething. What an over achiever. I keep telling him the "book" says he won't start cutting teeth until he is six months old- he's not listening.

We had a great Labor Day weekend. We got to see the whole family. The Bates (plural) were here until Sunday then the Clutters came up on Monday. Grampy Ron made Aidan laugh sooo hard! He never laughs like that for me.

Despite being fussy we had fun playing with the kitties today. Sophie has discovered that Aidan is good at petting gently. She purred and purred while Aidan explored her fur. We think she will soon be his cat. He loved touching a talking to her.

The slide show is of pictures from the last month. I haven't taken "four month" pictures yet due to "velcor baby" but will post some as soon as I can.

(It's amazing how much house work you can do while "wearing" a baby.)

New Discoveries

Aidan is now 14 weeks old. He learns something new everyday. Today we played in our exersaucer for the first time. He really doesn't like sudden noises- no matter how quiet. So the rattle on the saucer was not a hit. However, the very quiet dog was.

I can't figure out his fear. He cried when being buckled into his car seat today as well because the buckle snapped. Is it because it's usually so quiet at me house? Fireworks and thunder don't bother him at all... it's a mystery. Comments anyone?

He is really grabbing his toys now as well. He is getting attached to "Francis" the firefly. (Yes I name all his toys...) He gets all excited when he sees Francis. Aidan's feet are still high on his list of favorite toys as well. Still not in his mouth though.

As you can see from the past slide shows, Aidan sleeps on his stomach. I put him down on his back and he flips right over. Now he has figured out that he can scrunch up is legs and inch forward on his belly. I wouldn't describe it as crawling... but his is now semi mobile. It looks really funny- like an Inch Worm. (I need to look up the lyrics to that song...)

Three Months Slide show

Aidan is three months old today! (mommy says "threeth") He now weighs 14.5 lbs and measures 26 1/2 inches (at home)!
He rolls onto his tummy all the time: nap time, diaper changing, bed time. However, he is still ambivolent about tummy time.
He had his first bath in the big tub tonight and loved it! After his bath his hands found his feet-- what a cool new toy he has. I am sure they will find their way tho his mouth in no time.
He is quite the talker as well. He "sang" with Grammy Terri today insted of falling asleep.
